Religious Studies

The Religious Studies faculty at LSU engage in exciting research that draws on methodologies and theoretical approaches to the study of religion from a variety of academic disciplines.

Comprised of dynamic teachers, the faculty is committed to working closely with our undergraduate students. Our students enjoy close relationships with professors and instructors, each of whom is devoted to making sure students make progress every semester toward a timely graduation.

Majors in Religious Studies at LSU gain a deep awareness of the many religious traditions and communities across the globe. They also develop an effective skillset in research, critical writing, cultural analysis, and problem-solving; consequently, they are empowered to work in a wide variety of fields. Many of our alumni and alumnae have gone on to successful careers in the military, retail management, social work, production design, teaching, filmmaking, video game design, and photography, while others have pursued graduate work in the humanities, law schools, medical schools, nursing programs, and seminaries.

We offer an undergraduate major (the B.A. in Philosophy with a concentration in Religious Studies), and we regularly offer many courses on fascinating topics.

If you'd like to learn more about the major or simply chat about the program, feel free to contact the Section Head of Religious Studies.
